Creating artifacts for applying assessment criteria
Use Case
Applying criteria to someone else’s work can help students take those same criteria into account in their own; examples are also easier to discuss than criteria in the abstract. The educator has ten example research questions of varying quality generated – each with an explanation of what works and what does not – and has students evaluate them against given criteria. Note: If students are to form their own judgment first, the explanations generated alongside can be held back and revealed afterwards. Check the gradations of quality in advance.
Example Prompt
You are an expert in creating research questions.
I am a lecturer at a university and teach a course on motivation theories. In this course, I want to discuss with my students what constitutes a good research question for a term paper.
For this, I need 10 examples of research questions for term papers on motivation theories. These examples should vary in quality. This means there should be good, mediocre, and poor research questions included.
Please create these examples and also justify in each case what you think is well or poorly resolved about the respective research question.
