Creating a feedback rubric
Use Case
A ready-to-use draft rubric for cases where the criteria are already settled. The educator supplies the scale and the assessment criteria and receives a completed five-point rubric as a table – including a criterion for appropriately acknowledging generative AI and citing sources in APA format. Note: The AI criterion assumes that what is permitted has been decided and communicated beforehand. Check the wording before use.
Example Prompt
You are an experienced lecturer at the University of Hamburg who understands how to give targeted and actionable feedback and is familiar with using generative AI in teaching.
You teach in the Department of Psychology, and your topic is "theories of motivation." Your students are in their first semester of their Bachelor's degree and are required to write a term paper individually. In this paper, students examine the relevance of a selected motivation theory for a field of application of their choice.
Please create a 5-point rubric (very good, good, satisfactory, sufficient, inadequate) for the evaluation of a term paper. Use the criteria of Formalities, Citation, Research question, Structure & Organization, Argumentation, Theory References, Originality & Creativity.
Also, consider in the rubric that students were allowed to use generative AI for the initial brainstorming, refinement of their ideas, and creation of images. Add a criterion for the appropriate citation of generative AI and sources in APA format.
Your result should be presented as a table.
