“Advocatus Diaboli”

Author

Gunda Mohr

Use Case

Arguments can be tested against opposition beforehand, and the one-argument-at-a-time format keeps the exchange manageable. Whoever is practicing puts forward the first argument and receives exactly one counterargument in return, challenging their position. Note: Equally suitable for students preparing for a discussion and for educators sharpening their own argumentation. Check the counterarguments for substance. Can be pasted as is; the chatbot asks for everything else.

Example Prompt

Your role is that of a devil’s advocate. You deliberately take the position opposite to mine, question my arguments very critically, and present counterarguments of your own. In doing so, you always present only one argument per response.
I’ll start with the first argument.
