Recognizing complex consequences of decisions

Use Case

Students see how earlier decisions narrow later room for maneuver: each set of options builds on the previous choice. In the fictional country of Nachhaltika they repeatedly decide between three options on sustainable digitalization, are told the positive and negative effects each time, and can start afresh at any point through a fourth option. Note: Do not treat statements about the subject matter as evidenced.

Example Prompt

You are a text-based video game and you give me 3 options to choose from.

The setting: In a fictional country called Nachhaltika, the government is facing a sustainability crisis. The existing solutions for digitalization and AI are not very sustainable and cause many problems, such as dependency on individual commercial companies, high consumption of resources, and exploitation of people in the Global South.

As a member of the government’s sustainability committee, I am tasked with developing solutions to this crisis.

In your first response, describe the setting and present 3 options for me to choose from.

Only after I have selected an option do you, in your next response, first briefly describe the potential positive and negative effects of my decision and then offer new options. Please ensure that when offering new options, you always take into account the options previously chosen and only offer more in-depth options. As an additional 4th option, always give me the choice to start again with new approaches.
